Find Home Furnishings in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, New York is one of the favorite home stores that I have recently come across. It definitely worth making the short trip to Brooklyn if you are not already in the neighborhood. The warehouse space is filled with Moroccan, French Country and Modern pieces--both antique and new. When asked how I would describe the space, I informed one of the owners, Dennis, that Find reminds me of Yves Saint Laurent in Morocco in the 70's, but I quickly realized that this store also contains a vast selection of Classic French and Mid-Century pieces. We finally decided that the best description would be Something for Everyone. Most importantly right now everything in the store is 30% off. This is definitely worth a stop, even if you are coming from Manhattan. It is just a few minutes from Court Street where you can have a great brunch.

The Mounser apartment in Carroll Gardens is filled with unique antiques, flea market finds and thrifty accents. Henry and Amanda have used saturated colors and vintage florals to create a seamless ground for their incredible home accessories and accents. All of their discoveries are set in group arrangements; nothing is standing alone, and everything works in harmony. Amanda's custom necklaces hang from labeled nails for their recipients while Henry's turn tables incorporate his interests into the room in an unobtrusive manner--they even rest on a floral tablecloth. A statue of the Virgin Mary, medical supplies and antique cameras are just a few of my favorite finds. I have only touched on the many details in this Carol Gardens apartment that make it a favorite.

Spaces: My Studio

Often times, New York apartments are limited in terms of space. I have done my best to utilize each and every corner of my New York studio apartment rental. While light fixtures and flooring will remain original, chocolate paint and white silk shantung drapes have given this studio character. I will continue to post changes to this space as the year progresses. On that note, if I had the option to install new floors, I would opt for something similar to the Lanvin SS 2008 image below.

Chalk Board It

Chalk Board Paint adds a deep chalk board grey element to any room, but you can also write on the walls after you paint them just as if they were a chalk board. This is such a wonderful touch for an entryway, kitchen or children's room. Simple quotes are always nice additions as you enter or exit a room. Go wild and you can always erase!

I love playful touches of religious art in the home. I have purchased many antique crosses, a giant antique rosary, a vintage Mary of Guadalupe figure and a porcelin Buddha. These are very personal touches, and it is important to chose them consiously and carefully.
